Labor plans rally at Platt Street Bridge in Tampa on Thursday

Although nobody in Washington believes that President Obama's jobs bill will be passed as originally proposed (in fact, a slimmed-down portion already failed in the U.S. Senate), supporters of the president continue to rally around him for political purposes.

Spending on infrastructure projects was a part of the president's original $447 billion proposal, and Thursday in Tampa, activist groups — led by organized labor — intend on demonstrating in front of the currently closed Platt Street Bridge to emphasize that point.

The rally is scheduled to be held from Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Organizers are telling those who want to demonstrate to meet at AIDS Memorial Park, which is to the immediate south of the bridge on Bayshore Blvd.
